Don't know if this has been posted before, so excuse the redundancy if it has.

This is a fairly comprehensive list of external fashes (strobes) and their measured trigger voltages. A lot of DSLRs and electronic 35mm cameras can't handle the high trigger voltages of some older model flashes (for ex. most EOS DSLRs have a hot shoe max trigger voltage tolerance of only 6V), so this list is good to consult before buying that used Vivitar 283 which could fry your camera. Some radio triggers, such as the YongNuo RF-602 require flashes with a max trigger voltage of 12V or less...

I posted to my blog a little shoot I did at an in-store fashion event. The lighting was horrible, all ceiling mounted tracklights pointed in every which way casting crazy shadows. With a little snooping around and a little improvisation, I was able to get some nice shots of the models.

Has anyone completed any number of these DIY ring flashes that are out there? I'm very tempted to make one, specifically this one. I know that they're not going to be super powerful but for macro work they may be great.

There are so many options out there and I'd like to make one of them but I was hoping someone could tell me if they'd done one and if they were or weren't impressed with it.
