Question Second shooters fee

What is a reasonable rate to be paid as second shooter for wedding photography? I had someone ask if I was interested in being a second shooter, but I'm not sure how much to ask for. Would the size of the wedding etc. make a difference?

I've always paid or been paid between $100-$200 depending on experience/travel/expenses.

Under the table? Receipt Issued? Burn & Turn or editing? Travel?

When I have 2nd shot, I am between $25-40/hr, usually closer to the lower side. I would not take an 8 hour wedding for less than $200 personally.

Most of the 2nd shooter work I've done, I been paid around $150. That was just me handing over the files, no editing or anything. I enjoyed it until my primary photographer started trying to send me out on my own, still paying me the $150.

The primary shooter has packages starting at $800, but they're offering unlimited shooting which could mean unlimited time spent at the wedding.

When I used to do it, it was 10% of the primary shooters wage, minimum of $100.

Honestly though, if you've never done it before, I'd do it for whatever. It's fun and it's good experience. Way more fun than being the primary photographer

This for sure! You get to shoot whatever however, for the most part. Easy way to get creative without the stress looming over your shoulder...unless you're doing the type of second shooting where you're more of an assistant than a photographer.
