An expensive lesson - Always read the small print
 Two years ago in my quest and enthusiam and also my naivety I paid for some advertising for 2 years upfront. Fast forward to August this year and £314 was withdrawn out of my bank account  I was WTF?? So I contacted my bank and told them it was a fraudulent transaction so I got the money refunded.....
BUT later on this week they took the money back out because the retailer claimed that I signed a rolling contract according to "clause 8". I am PISSED that was not explained to me at the time of signing and when I read the "tiny small print on the back of the agreement". This is what it says: 8) If the Client does not want their advertisingment to appear after the expiry of the intial advertising period the Client must serve notice in writing to that effect by recorded delivery to the Company no later than 12 months after the date on this agreement otherwise this Agreement will become a 12 month rolling contract at the same yearly rate plus any artwork production charge. :(:( I spent all day on Wednesday in tears over this but now I have moved on and learnt my expensive lessons. a) Do not trust anyone b) Always read the small print c) Learnt what a rolling contract is as I'd never heard the term before e) Move on! Deal with it! My husband is refunding the money into my bank account and next time anything like this happens to speak to him first as he's more worldly wise and can smell a snake in a suit at 100 paces. |
