Well how did you do with the windows assignment? Did you find some architecturally interesting ones or use one in an overall composition? I love windows and take pictures of them when I travel or whenever I see an interesting one.
Some examples from me (remember, you need to post only one): ![]() As always, rules: Please note the change in closing time. Just a note to new posters: DO NOT start a new thread for your post. Please just hit the reply button at the bottom of any current post and put your image there. 1. Your original image you submit should be taken between the 7th of October and the 21st of October. Each week as an assignment closes on the Wednesday, it will be AUTOMATICALLY deemed *CLOSED* after 8am GMT ( 3am EST) and any posts after that time will not be eligible for the assignment competition. Don't wait until the last minute to post! 2. Your post must include "Assignment: Windows" (to show your permission to count it for the contest) and the date the picture was taken (to show that it is a valid entry). 3. EXIF data should be intact. It helps if you can include the main points (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) in the text of your message. 4. Only one entry per member (if you can't restrain yourself until the end of the first week you can post two or three separate pictures but your entry should be in a separate post and the only marked with the text above). It must be an original image taken by you. 5. Remember the cross-site image size limit (800px on the longest side). 6. If the image does not exist in post at the end of the contest, it is disqualified. If you modify anything on flickr and re-save the image then the link is broken and the message needs edited to link the picture again before it will be included in the contest. For everyone, please do not repeat other people's photos by quoting them until the contest is over. If you want to comment on or discuss an entry you can use a link to it (or just delete the picture from the quoted text). 7. If you are looking for the winners of the mini-contest, please check the front page of the DPS blog Saturday late afternoon (EST) and here. Next week is "Scary or Spooky" I'm feeling autumn in the air where I live and for me, that means Halloween is approaching. So let's see if you can come up with something scary and/or spooky to frighten me just a bit. Since Halloween is not celebrated everywhere, it doesn't have to pertain directly to this holiday. For inspiration, watch a scary movie, remember the things that scare you in life, think about the things that make you jump or get your heart racing. Remember, you should be using some of the things you learned in past assignments. For an assignment like this, lighting can really make a difference. Use it to create a mood, hide something in shadows, imagine what ghetto lighting can do. Perhaps High ISO will give a graininess to your image that enhances the feeling. Remember the Negative Space and Contrast assignments? What have you learned about composition? Consider the Rule of Thirds and Natural Framing. Creative assignments such as these need to include some of the technical things you know. The more you practice those technical basics with every assignment, the more second nature they become. This is the wall of windows on the music building at my college reflecting the cafeteria building. I was looking for something different from the cliche falling-apart-wood-window-frame window shot I've seen reproduced ten-thousand times, so all metal is good.

DRIVING INTO THE SUNSET
My daughter just got her permit and we went driving last night. I only took the point and shoot (to log her "moment" ) but the sunset was AMAZING!!!!! I made her pull over so I could get a few shots and saw the reflection in the back of the truck window. I soooo wish I had taken the DSLR. Someday I will learn my lesson ![]() ![]() Camera: Olympus FE230/X790 Exposure: 0.077 sec (1/13) Aperture: f/3.1 Focal Length: 6.3 mm ISO Speed: 125 Exposure Bias: -1.3 EV Flash: Off, Did not fire
