Default The Contest Debate

Hi all,

I am going to chime in with my 2c worth. The forum that we are participating in here is "Digital Photography Assignments" with a different topic posted each week. I enjoy participating because the assignments challenge me to explore and create and thereby improve my photography. The contest aspect is secondary, but it encourages people to go beyond the ordinary which further inspires me to say, "hey, can I capture something like that?"

My photographic life started a long time ago with a Kodak Brownie. My first trip to Europe was shot with an Instamatic and the photos are great...because I took the time before I left to look at books with stunning images and points of view. Several years ago I traveled to Australia with my first digital... 2.5 mp Sony point and shoot. Again, I love the photos as I do the photos taken with my Sony H1, the last camera before my DSLR (and I still use the H1 too).

I am not a professional by any means. I am an eager amateur who is here to learn.

One suggestion I have for those who would like a contest aspect for the group who cannot set an aperture of f/16 is why not take a poll next Wednesday and vote among yourselves as to which you would award first place and 2 honorable mentions? Only RYB participants are eligible to vote.

For those of you with a SLR, do you know if this is true?

And about the contest - I really could care less, but it is fun to have a challenge. I know my one win was a complete fluke. lol I just enjoy pushing myself to be creative and unique! Again, I will say this - I was just surprised by the split.

Default Great photo

I like how the water in this photograph is so crisp it looks like glass. This is one of my favorite photographs in this assignment.
