Default Suggestions for compact cameras please...

Ok, I LOVE my Nikon D40, but I would also like a small, compact, p & s, camera to keep in my purse for those spur-of-the-moment shots.

I have a Canon PoweShot SX110 and I HATE it. The pictures come out so grainy. It sometimes produces great shots, but it's always a coin toss. It's very discouraging. My dad gets great shots from his powershot, so I'm thinking I just picked a bad model. It was new to the market when I got it & there were no user reviews.

Before this, I had The Olympus C-5500 and LOVED it. It did great macro shots and the pictures were very crisp. Unfortunately, after 5 yrs of near daily use, the screen no longer works which means I can't access the menus.

My only requirements are that this camera be small enough to live in my purse(in a case, of course) and produce clear, crisp, 5x7 prints from a variety of situations and that it be around $100 or less(even if only on Black Friday).

A few that rated well on epinions were : (in no specific order)

Canon PowerShot A470
Polaroid I1036
Polaroid t1031
Olympus FE-46 Digital Camera
Olympus FE-20 Digital Camera
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8S Digital Camera
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ6 Digital Camera
FUJIFILM FinePix F30 Digital Camera

Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital ELPH Digital --I know this one is more expensive, but I've been eyeing the digital elphs for awhile. If it's photo quality is better than the others, I'm willing to pay the extra.

Thanks!!!
