While walking my dog in the woods, I noticed this guy following us along the tree line, he kept popping in and out of the brush and always stayed a couple of hundred yards away.
I kind of like the feel of this shot...I don't know why, I keep looking at it though, thinking it needs something, I just don't know what........what would you do with it ? ![]() thanks for looking mike

composition looks good to me. it does have allot of empty space, but thats kindof adding to the "wodland" feel of it.
a crop would ruin it i think. i might increase contrast a tad, and experiment with a light vignette, just to bring the eye back to the middle as the edges are very light (as light as the rest of the image) thanks for the story tho'

what's it missing? Sharpness.
Why is it not sharp? Cuz you were shooting at 300mm at 1/30 a second. The "rule of thumb" to eliminate blurriness from handholding is to shoot at 1/focal length. So since your on a rebel, the 300mm lens is roughly 450mm. So in order to shoot at 300mm without blurriness, you'll want to shoot at least 1/450.

Hi Mike,
Depending on the amount of time available, I would have tried framing him differently - placing him to the right of the frame, taking vertical shots etc, just to create more options to choose from. However, I like the current framing, it works for me.

The shot looks dreamy to me. The unfocussed branches in the front enhances the dream like sequence.

Hi mfreg, I'm new to the forum but I had to comment! I just recently read an article in a photography magazine in which there was a pic almost identical to yours. The professional photographer who took it got it accedentally when trying to turn off his camera. The comment that he made about the pic was that he kept coming back to it so he kept it. I love your pic. More than likely if you keep coming back to it someone else will too. I would do what candleman says and tweek the contrast a bit but I like the original photo better.
