Default The Coconut Tree

I took this picture laying down on the ground, I was going for that radial affect. Now that I see it on the monitor, I'm thinking why didn't I zoom out further to get the branch edges ....

Wondering if any of you guys like this picture. What do think about the composition. What would you have done different? Please feel free to edit the pic. (Not sure why the border is not showing, but it is a link to the original

I find the two vertical white line VERY distracting. Although you probably couldn't remove them, maybe you can try to post-process them out?

About the rest of the composition, I'm not quite sure zooming out would have helped, zooming out might have given it a "ooh, snap shot" type of look.
What I might try is zooming in MORE! And zooming in so the leaves are all coming out of the bottom right corner, so as to not get too much trunk in the shot.

Go lay down under a white-cable-less tree and try again!
Then show us what it looks like

I like the idea of this. There are two lines in it that are really distracting. I do like that there is the texture from the trunk and the leaves. It doesn't bother me that the branches are cut out...but that is only my opinion. Oh, another thing that I like it that the sun is there, but it is not overpowering as the branch is blocking it a bit.

Haha! Would love to but that would be one expensive shot, got to go back to Cabo San Lucas, MX for that

zooming out more would have yielded a much more pleasing composition, and I do agree, the 2 lines/wires are very distracting.

square

I cropped it to square [or nearly] which I think looks better and also removes the parts of leaves from nearby trees, which I found distracting. The white lines should really be removed by pp, but there are better people at that than me!

I really like this shot! I can't see the cropped version but I do like that the leaves are cut off! The white lines don't bother me either, they help the composition (one third) I think! But hey, I'm a super duper noob...

That's so weird, why is my edit now unavailable? I haven't deleted it and it is still there when I click on it. Mods? Anyone?

when I click on the link, it says that the photo is private. I don't know if that would affect the link, or not...

I changed the setting on the edits I've done for dps to private so other people's photos weren't on my photostream, but I thought they'd still appear in the forums?
