Default Water Droplets

I have lent my D40 to my friend to learn phoography a bit along with the kit lens and 55-200.

Im thinking of doing some water work tonight with my other but i only have a 50mm f/1.8.

Will it do the job or will it be too soft?

Im kind of thinking it might look good with a shallow DOF and only the droplet in focus. Will be trying anyway.

If my remote flash has arrived will be using filters too!

Any tips?

I dont know whether it will be too soft down at 2.8 should i be going for f/8 - f/11 for sharpness?

I also have a fisheye to play with so i might try that too! Although i would have to be incredibly close to the acton and im not that confident!

Check out this thread most of the photos have been deleted but Snapdragon is an expert on water droplets - her pic was even in Times Square!

Anything between f/2.8 - f/4 should provide you excellent sharpness and shallow depth of field.

If I were you (and the subject allows), I would take several exposures from f/2.8 through f/4 and decide later on the computer which one is(are) the keeper(s).
