Hi DPS,
I own a Canon 450D rebel XSI. And I love it. Its a very powerful camera. But I dont know how to use the Viewfinder alone. I had to shoot outside, I use the LCD to adjust the brightness(Shutter and Aperture combination). Then I shoot with the viewfinder. If I move to a different location again I need to adjust the brightness with the LCD only. How to do that adjustments with the Viewfinder alone. I use only Manual mode. Is it necessary to use the LCD. If I dont use the LCD the pictures are either over exposed or dark. Thanks, Wildsen |

Youve gone about it the wrong way entirely. The screen was primarily designed to review your images and allow you to navigate the menu: while you CAN use it to shoot, it's going to be slower and more difficult.
Learn to use your meter, and understand what it means. Learn to use a histogram on playback. All the information you need to get proper exposure is right there in the viewfinder.

Hi OsmosisStudios,
Thanks for the answer. Correct me if I'm wrong. By the term "Meter" you mean the meter that appears as a scale for exposure right? Or did you refere to the various metering modes. I tried the scale option and it really is amazing. Thanks once again. |

I was referring to the scale
+ --|--|--0--|--|-- - Or something similar.
