Default Correct composition..

Hi All,

I know I broke the rule about placing the subject in the centre of the image here, but I had to snap it quickly to get it as the light was good and she doesn't always hold for long! My question is this. How can I crop this image to make it more 'striking' if you. I want to have the best image possible, while fixing the image being in the centre of the photo. I like the picture, but am trying to learn about rule of 3rds and composing the images while doing the photography. Feel free to edit the pic if it makes it easier to explain.

I too would have gone for a similar crop like Michael_2010. For a horizontal crop the picture won't feel good if you place the subject by rule of thirds.

Funny thing..... I asked my 80-year-old mom what she thought about the cropped photo and the first thing she said was, "She is definitely a mama dog." Of course, mom thinks a good photograph has someone she knows in the frame with the Eiffel Tower coming up out of their heads. Anyway, you may want to clone the teat out of whatever final version you come up with. lol

I only leave pictures by others in my flickr account for a while before deleting. Have not yet figured out a better way to keep my photos separate from the work of others and I am new to flickr. So I will probably do that later today. Hope you come up with something you are happy with and do come back and share that end result with us.

Not to jack the thread topic, but when you upload, You can mark to (no one can see). That way, anyone who is flipping through your stream, can't see edited photos, but you can still paste the HTML in the forum for people to view. I usually use the DPS uploader, but it seems to be kicking the files out as invalid.

I'm pretty new to DPS and straight off the turnip truck when it comes to flickr. I only signed up a couple of weeks ago, so I could post something on this site and get some feedback. Once I uploaded a couple of files it dawned on me that it might be a good idea to upload other files I have scattered around on PC's, laptops, cd's and a backup device. A while back I had a hard drive crash and burn. I lost 100's of digital files (most I didn't care anything about), because I was in a bad habit of just dumping them on the PC to clear the space on the cameras and getting back to them later. So, keeping a few selected ones out there seems like a good idea to me.

So after that verbal detour, what do you mean by hiding the files? Is that an option I can click in flickr, or is that something done at the time of upload.
