Default please critique

ok....I took the first portrait a few months ago. Recently I purchased the Florabella texture package and wanted to experiment - so I tried it on this portrait. Most pics using these textures are composed of soft, subtle tones - but i tried a bolder approach with this shot. What do you think???? any comments are appreciated - i'm never too old to learn how to improve!!!

Composition wise, I think the big pole next to the lady is distracting.

Textures wise, I'm not a big fan of textures so won't comment on it.

Thanks gibberi3h - and i can see where the pole can be distracting. she was standing on a bridge - looking out into the water and i should have choosen a different angle for the shot.

thanks for the feedback!

Agree with above about the pole. I feel you should be able to see one of her hands (the one the pole is covering).
I am a fan of texture (and borders) because they help tell a story
I adore this set up but without sounding mean I believe the texture saves this photo from being another standard shot in your portfolio.

Keep shooting =)

I really like the texture and the colors, I think it fits the mood of the picture. Very nice.

I do like textures to spice up a boring picture or to help tell a story, and I think it worked well for this picture. I agree with the first poster that the pole is very distracting. It cuts the picture right down the middle, unfotunately.

I'm still a beginner, so I also have a hard time remembering to look at more than just the subject. Even when I am looking, I have had times when I've not noticed something obvious. It happens!

Default Great Texture Job

Great use of the texture, it tells the story well...

However i am also not happy with this pole... being there.. anyway without this pole the bridge won't have been that safe to be on.
