Default Cropping Question

This is probably not a landscape but here goes.

I like the colors and contrast, although I think I should have stopped down more.
My problem is I am not sure what crop would work the best for the photograph. I have cropped it in two different ways, but still cant decide.
Any comment appreciated. Thanks

First is the original and second and third the two different crops.

The differences are minor at most. Cropping that tree out of the right is a good idea, because it is a weirdly distracting vertical line.

That said, this photo is lacking any strong subject... I would say that, instead of worring about small cropping differences, you need to try and find a subject in this shot, retake, and then worry about it from there.

Yes, I agree. Plus with that group of trees on the right being a lighter color than the rest of the image, they don't look like they belong.

Thanks David and Trader,

I agree there issnt a strong subject, when taking the photo I thought the footpath would cut it, but after downloading the photos I realised the path was too neutral to make a good subject. I have another shot that is taken from a lower angle but it doesnt work either.
(I found this is my weak spot, my photo's lack strong subjects.)

I still like this one, and wanted to see what I can do with it. Gave me a good workout setting the contrast, because all those greens are really hard to work with. Hopefully this exercise will be useful once I got a stronger subject.

my opinion is that the photo is just lacking a clear subject. You usually crop to get rid of unnecessary 'clutter' in the image so that you bring the focus to your subject. In these pictures i have no idea what the subject is..

Not trying to be harsh lol just my thoughts

I am planning to go back to the spot and try something different (that is if the rain stops)
