A client is wanting me to come take pictures of ther interior walls of her house this weekend before they start blasting away the hill near her house to widen a road.
She is wanting the shots to have the date stamped on them. I know that it is in the EXIF data and explained that to her but she wants it on the actual picture. I have searched on my Canon XSi and do not see this option in the menu. Does anyone know if it is possible with either the XSi, XS or XTi????

Does she need it for legal purposes? A date stamp on the image can be faked and is not admissable in court. The data in the RAW file can't be faked as easily (or so I have read).

Unfortunatgely the date in a RAW file is as easy to fake as any other date. Maybe hold up a newspaper in shot to show that it wasn't taken any earlier. Can't think of a way to prove it wasn't taken later.

It's from a TV advertisement...someone on a tour group stops a nuclear reactor from melting down, or prevents a bomb from blowing up because they were smart enough to stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
Here's an example... YouTube - Holiday Inn Express Meltdown |

Was she offered a pre blast inspection? How far away will her house be from the blasting?
BTW, this is what I do for a living. Generally, any structure greater than 500 feet from the site does not require a pre blast inspection. This is where an inspector comes into the home and documents the current condition of the structure. This includes any cracking in the walls, imperfect miter joints in the woodwork, nail pops, whether the floor creaks, etc. If the inspector is any good, s/he will sketch each wall, noting any defects in the wall, and photograph the defects. In my experience, most claims of damage are just home owners that want to get something fixed for free, or they are against the project and want to cause trouble for the blasting company, and what they claim as damage could not be caused by blasting. |
