Hi, Does anyone know how to fix a Error 99 code?? I have a Canon 40D thats only a few years old but of course past its warrenty and cannot use it. I have googled this code and have tried I think everything to try and fix this stupid problem... I paid a lot of money for this camera and all the lenses. It does it no matter what lens is on the camera, pulled out the battery, pulled out the card, renstalled both. Cleaned contacts. ??? Canon will charge $150 just to look at it plus shipping with no garentee!! I will never buy another Canon. So

Have you tried this?
Richard's Notes Blog Archive Canon DSLR Error 99 fix My good old Nikon D80 died on me a couple years ago. Everyone said to use it as a door stop, or paper weight, but it was / is a damn good camera. I sent it to Nikon, and they replaced the aperture mechanism, and did a complete check of all the other stuff. It was around $135 including shipping. I just used it as a back up, and it's still going strong. |

Thanks Marla, I paid over 4000, for camera and lenses, it costs $ 150.00 to have it sent in to Canon just to have them look at it plus shipping so was out looking for ideas on how to try and fix the problem without having to send it in. As I am reading more on this error 99 catch all code some people are thinking its a firm ware problem. There are lots of tricks but for me none of them are working.

Thanks Wood, I have checked out Richards web site and have tried everything on there and nothing seems to work for me. I will look into the Firm Ware and try and see if I can load an updated one from Canon.
Thanks sandy |
