Default Better in Black

I'm curious which image you guys like better. The only change to the color one is a slight adjustment in curves. No crop. I then used the B&W filter and followed the e-mail tutorial for split toning. I went with +26 to blue in the shadows and +26 to yellow in the highlights. Pretty sure I used just a touch of diffuse glow as well.

I prefer the second one, you've done a good job! The first one lacks something, but can't put my finger on what exactly.

When I first looked at it, I didn't know that the hood was up. I thought it was something in the background. I know it was a before and after, and I like the color one better, but maybe getting the front end in the picture would've made the b&w better. It is just hard to tell where the hood is coming from.

I definitely like the split-toned version better here, it seems to simplify the composition and makes it more easy on the eye. Interesting example, nice image.

I was a bit baffled by the hood as well. It took me a minute to realize that it was the hood and not something in the background. I prefer the color image, myself.

All things considered, I like the B&W, but I think that color blue is really nice. A color version with the other colors faded a bit might be interesting to compare (particualrly desaturating the reda little bit).

Anyway, I like the BW.

haha, i didnt realize that was a hood until reading the comments, i like the color one more between the two, i dont know if its just me or what but i personally greatly dislike split toning, maybe a straight black and white with some adjustments?

just adding on, thought of this right after i posted, if you shot in raw you could do a pseudo-hdr, actually even in jpeg you might be able to try but it would be more difficult, but you might be able to get some more detail in the reflections, it would be especially nice if you could get more of the 3 on the car to come through, then try maybe a black and white of the hdr

I like the processing you have done here. The color in the orginal really didn't add anything to the image, what works here is interesting lines and shapes. Converting the image like you have done here puts emphasis on that and reduces the emphasis on color which was not very strong in an image like this.

Nicely done good eye

I also like the 1st one. I am not familiar with split toning. Is this in Photoshop?
