Default Improving Myself

My wife took this picture of me last weekend with our Rebel XS on full auto and I thought it was good enough to send it to PP.

Before:

After:

I saw the tutorial on the DPS main page... How to Enhance Eyes in Photoshop [Video Tutorial]

I think it worked out well. I also toned down some veins in the whites of my eyes.
Little contrast and brightness adjustments as well as toning down the blue curve. I didn't want my new eyes to be effected by these adjustments so I applied them to a new layer and erased the eyes, allowing my edited eyes to come through.
Cropped the chair out, and viola!

Whadaya think? This was really my first attempt at messing with eyes and even curves. Boy, do I have a lot to learn.... I can't wait.

You might also consider removing the white spot (baby's forehead?) from the lower right hand corner of the image. This bright spot tends to pull my eyes off of the subject (you). Other than that, great first attempt.

I think messing around with the blue channel gave you a yellow cast

Usually the only tone curve I change when doing PP on portraits is the red one, and that's just a tiny, tiny drop to take a bit of the red out of the face.

I also thought it looked a little too yellow, and taking a bit of red out would help a lot.
