So back in March my wife, her sisters and I had to travel into the
country for their grandfathers funeral. I had borrowed my friends 1000D (which inspired me to get my 50D). We passed through a lot of older townships along the way and basically, I was just pressing the shutter every few seconds. ![]() This is the first time I have had to remove an object within an image that required so much attention. What are your thoughts? Has the pole been removed realistically enough? ![]()

Wow!
I'm not a professional photographer, and what I'm looking at in the forum is probably not the highest-resolution version, but I can't find any trace of the pole! And the 'after' image is darker around the edges, and I like that. It makes the photo look older. I'll be interested to see whether someone else sees some give-away artifact that I haven't seen ... |

Wow !!!
A great photo I must say. Love it. The pole has been removed pretty nicely. If a person is not looking for it he won't feel that some object has been removed. Did you used Photoshop to remove the pole ??? I did a simpler removing in one of my photos. It was an overhead cable so it was quite easy to remove that. Still interested what features you used to remove the pole. ![]() KazeFox |

Yes, PS CS3. I like to use a couple of tools for the job, firstly I will lay the foundations for my missing information with the patch tool. This helps for harder clones as you can see a chunk of the image you are placing. (NOTE: this can blow out your colours) Do this with Smaller selections, not large areas. I probably used 15 - 20 selections on this image. After that I will use a bit of the clone stamp to tidy up. Using a selection of the image on a separate layer. I then tone back to a desired opacity if req'd. That's basically it. Thanks for your comments. Quote:
