Default Multiple Exposure

I did this using gimp. First I took 19 shots of a landscape, each time i used a slower shutter speed. I didn't need 19 because i ended up only using 2 of them.

How to do it:
open up the more overexposed image (lighter)
open up the more underexposed image (darker)
select all on the dark image
copy visible
go to light image and make a new layer
paste into
anchor the "floating section"
right click on "new layer" and go to mask>add mask click on grayscale copy of layer
merge layers down and save

Here are the before and after pictures:

The Dark View from Lazy
The dark picture.

The Bright View from Lazy
The bright picture.

The View from Lazy Mountain
The After.

What do you guys think?

Definitely enhanced. The resulting colours maybe look a touch bright for realism but it isn't immediately obvious that you've merged two pictures. An enhancement might be to use a third image for the foreground, that is a little more subtle in its colours.

Very nice RP - this looks easy enough to do in Gimp. Only a few steps, I'll have to give this a try sometime. I haven't gotten the hang of the masks without a tutorial in front of me. Thanks for sharing!

I like the photo and the work done on it so I have to disagree w/ u: I dont think that we and our computers can do w/ colours what nature can - and thats to brighten them to much . Ive seen colours in nature which if put on a screen everybody would be disgusted and say: overexagurating! And to defend the photo more - they sky isnt oversaturated so the front treeline has a nice contrast to it..Id definitely would roll in that grass (after checking it for snakes and bugs - lol)

Default Masking

I like what you have done with the shots. Masking is one element of post processing that I have not quite gotten the hang of.

I have PSE6 and Gimp. I guess I'll give both a try.
