Monk in Lao Selective color edit

Hi there,

Last year in one of my travels I had the opportunity to shoot this picture:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/svenmoniek/2652346011/" title="Canvas origineel by Sven &amp; Moniek, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3279/2652346011_da46e46544.jpg" width="500" height="332" alt="Canvas origineel" /></a>

Last week I moved in a new house and thought it was time to get some decorations. The color red is chosen for my living room, so I wanted a picture with red in it. This is the result...: I personally really like the detail of the flip-flop, although it also looks a little bit fake.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/svenmoniek/2653175778/" title="Canvas edit by Sven &amp; Moniek, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3073/2653175778_2705b0f7aa.jpg" width="500" height="332" alt="Canvas edit" /></a>

Please comment and please feel free to (re-)edit my picture and post it.

Greets Sven

I like the b&w with the red, but I personally think I would like it without the flip flop in there. But that is only my personal opinion....however, it's a great photo an I think it'll look great in your new place.

I would have to disagree - I think the original is much better. I think there's too sharp of a contrast between the man and his surroundings, and I also think the background color added to the overall feeling of the scene. I don't think the changing of the colors works for me either.

With that said, it'll be in your house, so the only person it has to please is you (and maybe your family) :)

I like the boosted color on the robe for the second version, but I think it would look great in the first version of you boosted tht robe color as well.

not for nothing but the OP stated why the change in color because the color scheme of the area it's going in is red. :p

I personally like the red. Maybe not so bright, and the slippah, I could do without. Maybe not necessarily clone it out but no color to it. I didn't notice it in the first pic and definitely noticed it in the after.

I know that. Doesn't change my statement though.

i don't mind the flip flop in there but that red seems too stark....is that the exact wall color you'll be using? if not perhaps you could tone the red down closer to the orig picture.....i mean stay red but softer if that makes sense. will be a fab piece of art!

I personally like the natural color of his outfit. Leave that, and just make everything else including his footwear b&w.
