Default the bee

Hi guys,

Only my 2nd post on DPS and my first upload. Sorry for imageshack as I just haven't gotten around to getting my flickr signed up as of yet.

I hope I put this is in the right area, as it is a before and after shot, but I wasn't 100% if I should have put this in the critique area.

This is my first attempt at processing one of my shots and I hope some of you like it as much as I do.

Effects used with PhotoScape
Crop // blur effect on background // sharpen tool on the bee // small amount of vignette.

Pentax K10D
f 16
shutter 1/125
flash fired for fill
lens Pentax 18-50mm

Feel free to rip it apart if it's terrible. Thanks for any input / advice.

I think black and white was a good way to go with this shot because so many of the colors are bright and slightly overexposed. My only suggestion is that you crop in closer to the bee, assuming he is your subject. Right now he is small compared to the flower stalk, which is now colorless so that seems dull in comparison to him. Maintain rule of thirds in a tighter crop and I think you've got a winner.

I'm scared of bees, but shots like this make them look adorable.
