Beautiful photo! I like it better before the edit though. It's a bit too blown out and it's too obvious her fly-aways have been removed. Great photo as is!

I have a beauty shoot on Thursday, I will have a proper look when i get home from work but the image is excellent, though I think the hair is slightly overdone.

Lighting is really pleasing.

Thanks, Danny. I agree about the hair. That was the biggest lesson for me. Get the hair right before the shot. We had done a few different things with her at by this point and didn't have a stylist on set, so it was a bit wild.

There are some retouchers that can do mind blowing things with hair. I'm nowhere near that, so I had to make a compromise. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the feedback. While it is intentionally bright, I don't find it to be blown out.

I thought the same thing! A stray hair or two leads the mind to believe that it wasn't retouched. But what the heck, I'm a mere amateur when it comes to this stuff. I do love navigating PS though!

Off the top of my head, this is what I'd do:
In PS, what I do is click "W", highlight the subject, click on REFINE, set pixel upto 3, then highlight around the subject bringing back the stray hair, then decontaminate and have it copy to a new layer mask.

Then you have the mask already set to make any adjustments to the subject with the stray hair and not have to go in and pick and choose individual pixels.

Like I said above, I'm probably just under average when it comes to PS and there could be other choices/options to doing such. But this is now quick for me and makes my life simple.

BTW, if I'm out of place, send me to the corner of the room without dinner!

As a beginner who hasnt fully explored the editing side of photography I really appreciate you taking the time to post these shots and the steps you took to arrive at your final.

Thanks

I like the first shot. The second one is so unnatural, pasty and flat.

Cheers,
