Default Easter Egg Hunt

BEFORE

AFTER

I crooped the lady out of the shot. I Adjusted the levels and contrast, and colors a bit. I did a high pass sharpen too i think, never done it before but i think it turned out ok. I am happy with it after overall but wish her face was brighter.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/14
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 400

Adorable picture! I like the crop. (I can't wait to take mine Easter egg hunting).

Hope you don't mind, I borrowed your photo to see what I could do with it. (Let me know if you do mind and I'll take it off immediately).

All I did was create a levels adjustment mask. I adjusted the highlights and midtones to lighten the photo, then I painted in black everything but the girl and parts of her basket. You could mess with the settings a little bit to get a more natural look and my paint job is not the best, but you get the general idea.

You've done a good job. The cropping was definately the right thing to do!! I'm sure we have several members here who have their magic that could tell you how to brighten her face!

edit -- see... I knew there was at least one! lol

Hi wannabe
Did you happen to note any numbers or settings that you used? You did a wonderful job lightening the shadows here and would love to know numbers/settings as a jumping off point. I know that those would be different
depending on the image you're working on, but I'd have a good place to start tinkering. lol

Glad you liked it. I'm sorry, but I don't have the layers saved anymore so I can't give you exact numbers (I understand where you are coming from, though, I am moderately new to post processing and I think having some stone cold numbers makes things so much easier). I don't know what editing program you have (I'm using Photoshop Elements) and I don't know how other program's terms/numbers relate, but you can try adjusting input levels, midtones to 1 and highlights to 200 and go from there. I just moved the sliders until I got something I liked. Good luck!
