Default Mountain stream

This was very challenging for me - I just couldnt get the exposure to come out right. At first the entire left side of the shot was almost black, and the right was good, then the left was okay and the right was washed out bad. It was afternoon in the mountains, with a clear blue sky.

Being unhappy with the exposure from one side to the other, I put the picture in photoshop, and made two layers. I adjusted the contrast and brightness of the right side, so it wasn't so overexposed. Then I dropped the original on top, and erased the washed out section. There is a pretty defined line where the sun is coming in. Made it easy to know where to erase. Took about five minutes.

This seems like a place where HDR would have been useful, but I had to park on a tiny outcrop on a curve, and clamber down forty feet to even get here. Taking a tripod was out of the question.

I think you've done a good job of evening out the shadows/contrast. Could do with a tad more saturation IMHO but a very nice shot.

You've done a great job. And the original picture looks perfect. Why could you not get the exposure right? Probably use a different filter?
