Default Effective Cropping????

OK first of all apologies for not strictly sticking to the rules in that the before picture has been edited already but I've used up my flickr quota for the month so can't link to the unedited picture. But the editing process I want to highlight here is not anything to do with the colour in the picture but more to do with the cropping.

The subject is my friend's 18 month old daughter, she is a stunningly beautiful child and in the before photo I think I captured this but couldn't quite pinpoint where her beauty lay. I think I nailed it with the crop.

I agree. Great crop, but that little mouth, with those teeth give such personality to the shot!

I really prefer the pre-cropped version. Everything about it is beautiful!

ditto!
the fact that there is a second child, and he is looking out of the frame, makes for a very interesting component

there isn't a reason why you cant use the before pic and the cropped version in a frame, I love them both, they both have a "story" feel to them.

Here's a link to a thread I created some time ago dealing with the issues of cropping. Thought I'd share it another time around

http://digital-photography-school.co...oposition.html

Wiki has since deleted the article, but it's up for reinstatement.

That's a good crop, but IMHO, the mouth open with the teeth make the original shot what it is. TFS
