This photo alone would be pretty boring with just the water and the memorial in the background. I moved around a little bit more and found the blue dock with the birds in the foreground. I almost wish the dock was a bit more pronounced, but I think with it in the photo adds a degree of interest and balances out the overall image.

![]() Although the stone tower in the foreground could dominate this shot, I like how it is balanced by the flagpole in the background. Additionally, there is some compositional balance between the old and the contemporary buildings. If you don't think this is about Balance, you try doing...this...on the edge of a chair back.
Course, if you want to get technical...Look at how the curve of his body is balanced by the curve of his tail AND see how the motion of his face is balanced by the fat white fluffy belly like yin&yang, AND last but not least, how his left front leg down is balanced by his right back leg up. I dunno, I'm throwing some BS out there thinking some of it may stick. ![]() ![]() Canon PowerShot S2 IS Exposure: 0.067 sec (1/15) Aperture: f/3.5 Focal Length: 24.5 mm Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: Off Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3 Windows Date and Time (Original): 2009:02:16 17:45:36-05:00 Last edited by pictd2lrn; 02-19-2009 at 04:44 AM. ![]() Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200) Aperture: f/3.8 Focal Length: 90 mm ISO Speed: 100 Taken on Feb 19, 2008 Lens: Tamron 90mm Edited in Paint Shop I adjusted the color from a yellow color to this blue, sharpened, plus rotated the image. (original on flickr). I found this Assignment a little challenging and thought provoking since I normally do not look for balance in my photos. When I look at this photo, I see two points of interest. The light and details on the petals on the left and then the right. Have a great week! Linda

I call this one, God's Cathedral. Nature is always a balancing act, as this bird proves high up on the tree top.
