I love the DPS site and the articles and tips and I have learned a lot.

But I have been unable to participate, and it is incredibly frustrating. Anyone willing to help, please let me know. And now I have missed the deadline for submitting to this contest - more frustration...dang!!!

Default Butt butt butt butt butt butt

While on a drive home from a ski resort, and spending an hour at the spot where the mountain sheep are supposed to congregate, my wife spotted a herd grazing just outside Denver off of I70. Fortunately, I was able to grab the exit (whipping across three lanes to do it, which I am sure brought smiles to many other drivers' faces) do a u-turn under the freeway and shot steadily for about half an hour. This was one of the better shots - my BUTT shot. All large adults, all just munching away, oblivious to the now-herd of photographers doing what I was doing.

Shot with a Canon PowerShot S2 IS with the zoom at about halfway. Do not know what was happening with shutter speed or ISO, sorry.

Hope I am doing this right, or it will wind up as an "empty" post...instead of with a photo :-(

Assignment: Best of...

I had a hard time picking, but I settled on this image since I keep coming back to it as one of my favorites.

HDR Image 11

The image is HDR - so the EXIF is not intact, however, I can fill in the gaps:

- Canon Digital Rebel XTi
- Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OS
- 18mm, 1/250 @ f/8 ISO 100 in aperture priority
- Shot on February 18th, 2008

This was for the first exposure. I then took the RAW file into ACR and processed two more RAW files from it - one up a stop or so and another down a stop or so. I then used CS3 to blend in HDR mode.

After that, I did some adjustments to the color, some dodging and burning, darkening of the sky, etc.

I found this scene under some great light on the drive to Quincy, IL just north of Augusta, IL. Man it was cold out! A police officer actually stopped to see if I was okay. I told him what I was up to. He shook his head as if I was crazy and drove off.

I've driven by several times since but the light has never been the same.

Default Assignment - Best of **October 12, 2008**

Taken with a simple point n' shoot. I'd rather not bring out my 'real' camera in the dinghy in most cases! I converted to Black and White in Photoshop Elements.

Not my best shot of the year but I just joined here yesterday and I won't be home to upload anything else to Flickr in time I just wanted to participate anyway to jump in with both feet!

Some of the images in this thread, truth be told, took my breath away.
