I'm an absolute beginner, and I'm wowed by some of the photographs in this thread. I hope to learn a lot here in 2009. Up to now, I've been reading occasionally, and picking up tips, but I'm ready to jump in with my first submission.

So here is my favorite photo of 2008. It's a photo of my son, Patrick Keckler, when he sat down for a moment to take a break from playing at Centennial Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
