It is useful to have the main stuff pasted in - I normally added shutter speed, aperture and ISO as well as the focal length I used and a note about the camera and lens. I think including it in the post is a useful part of "framing" the image.

Just enough time to get him in the viewfinder before he saw me.

Default Assignment: From the Hip

well I hope that I didn't make a mistake and I understand the subject of the assignment cause it is a little blurry to me

as I understand that I must shoot without composing the scene by the view finder or the LCD, here are my try : I just point my camera to this neon and I shot. You are right how it's surprising the result can be.

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0,006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/8
focal: 48 mm
ISO: 200
Flash: Flash did not fire

Taken from the hip at a high school band function. This kinda captures the personality of this guy.

That is it. You are exchanging the precision of composing your shot through the viewfinder / LCD for the opportunity to get a new perspective on things. We still want great pictures though, so the skill comes in things like finding a good location, picking good settings and selecting the best shot from your session.

The Amount he got

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.2 sec (1/5)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 23 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Adjusted the settings before spotting him standing close to me. Realised he's counting some money, if not somethng else from his wallet, so I'd rather not risk being caught squarely snapping him with the camera. Its taken on the waist level.
