Ok, last week's WWYD was a real challenge, but out of it came some great instructions for putting a picture into a snowglobe. :)

This week we have a picture from Teewinot

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/7845858@N05/2086435343/" title="Bee on Pitcher Plant by ~Teewinot~, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2301/2086435343_ee7c9f58cf.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Bee on Pitcher Plant" /></a>

Available Larger (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2301/2086435343_ee7c9f58cf_b.jpg)

The rules are simple. Use this picture and edit it however you would like. Come back and post your result along with what you did so we can learn from it. Simple as that. And if you'd like your photo used, just drop me a PM with the medium and large links to the picture.

Now, let's see what you would do!

Very simple. I just frescoed the original in Photoshop and inverted the colors. After that, something told me this was a face. So I grabbed a brush and drew the eyes in, minus the pupils. I made sure to draw the nose so that the bee was on the outside because it sucks to have a bee in your nose. The mouth line was already there.

That seriously made me laugh :D

Not that I know from experience or anything. I'm just assuming that sharp things being in your nose aren't fun.

I think the safest thing to do here is to shrink-wrap the little bugger to the flower.

played with the stauration a bit
painted the bee with a brighter yellow at 30% opacity to brighten it up a bit
mirrored image
circle effect with a repeat pattern

Some great edits so far, everyone! I liked this shot because this bee seems suicidal hanging out on the rim of a carnivorous pitcher plant...I just find the overall composition a little busy with all the leaves going this way and that. Keep 'em coming!! :D

Doesn't really go with the subject. I just wanted to play with some new actions and brushes.

*Newly Discovered* Madagascar Wasp Nest Pitcher Plant
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/15971010@N06/2127894684/" title="Madagascar Wasp Nest Picher Plant by neonfish3, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2008/2127894684_7c776470f0.jpg" width="420" height="500" alt="Madagascar Wasp Nest Picher Plant" /></a>

First I made a selection of the pitcher plant,
Then I opened a new doc. and pasted the selection,
pasted many more times with different rotations,
then went back to the original pic and made a selection of the wasp,
and again pasted the wasp on the new doc., many times,
then copied the multi-leaved picture plant back on the original pic., put in position and cropped,
then I erased the middle of my new plant to reveal the throat of the original plant,
then added a little shadow to the hole I created.
Then I ran the Black and white adjustment layers action that Kvikken posted. (http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9072&highlight=black)

Hope that made sense:rolleyes:.
first time trying one of these....
I wouldn't do it this way again, I would probably just crop it to a portrait format and blur the background.

Nicely done neonfish :) I think it looks good and incredibly convincing :)

I cropped a little off the left.
Cloned out part of the plant I thought was distracting.
Blurred background some more (next time i will not let it "glow" around the plany... it's bothering me, sorry)
Cut out the wasp and made it larger and rotated it.
Made a layer to make it look like the wasp was going inside the plant.
Boosted the saturation
"Dodge and burned" the picture.

Too much fun :D

jfray0, I really like this...very interesting and unique interpretation.

neonfish3, what a great idea...well-executed too!

his4ever, nice edit...the subtle softness around the leaf really makes the subject pop well...i also like the enlargement and rotation of the bee.

Firemaine, great tones! very eye-catching and vibrant.

Great job everyone!!!! :D

I really should've put a note up earlier this week, but I'm leaving this WWYD up until next Tuesday/Wednesday because of the holiday season. I figured lots of people are busy, so it needs a little extra time to get the attention it deserves :p

This is my first time doing a WWYD challenge. Is it okay to repost this photos on our own Flickr? Please let me know.

Here is what I did:

Played with the saturation to deepen the colors
Used the straighten tool to change the angle
Discovered a beautiful maroon color after completing previous step :p
Added a circle affect with the color option
Added another circle affect with the wrap option.

Linda, nice job! And welcome aboard WWYD! It's fine to use Flickr to host your edit...some of us just indicate that it's another person's original photo, and some of us simply make it 'private' so there's no issue. :)
