Available Larger (http://static.flickr.com/2339/2085563235_9ec23c738e_b.jpg)
As usual, the rules are simple: Take the photo here, edit it however you want, then come back and post your result and tell us what you did to get that result. We hope that people will learn from these threads, which is the reason for posting your process too :)
If you want your photo to be the subject of one of these threads, just drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large version of your photo and it will get used in the order that it's received.
Now, let's see what you would do!

I don't think I did a good job with the snow though.

I used PS CS3 but nothing I did can't be done in older versions.
1. I found the globe on Google images and just remove the model inside the globe and the design on the base with stamp pad tools.
2. I imported the wine picture on a layer above the globe and sized it.
3. I applied a layer mask to the wine picture and just painted outside of the globe black with a feathered brush. (Layer mask are so much better than just erasing)
4. I applied a slight Distort>Spherize to make it looked distorted through the glass.
5. I set the blend mode for the wine pic to Hard light.
6. For the snow I made a new layer and applied filter Render>Clouds. I set this to clipping mask of the wine layer, so that it would only show up in the globe.
7. Then I applied Pixelate> Mezotint and chose Coarse Grain.
8. Next I removed the black from the layer by simply doing a color select on the black at about 70% and just deleted the selected.
9. I then applied Motion blur at about 20 pixels and -50 degrees.
10. Finally, I applied Distort>twirlize to the snow to make it look like it was blowing around in the globe, instead of just blowing in one direction.
I don't remember all the details but that is the gist of it.

jfray, I HAD to try this, so here is my attempt. Granted my edges are rough and my effects do not compare to yours but I am tired and rinking wine!

Neat idea, prince! Do you mind sharing with us how you did this?
windrider86, nice job on your try of jfray0's idea...that's what these threads are all about!! Also I like your other edit...making the bricks and snow white helps the objects pop.
Here's my try...a little lost for a goal this week, so I just played...:D
What I did (in PSP XI):
-Duplicated layer
-Gaussian blur to duplicate layer (50.00)
-Difference Blend of 2 layers (opacity 70%)
-Merged 2 layers into 1
-Unsharp mask (Radius 75, Strength 200)
-Curves adjustment (brightness)
-Increased saturation (20)
-Cloned off the side of the dark object on the left so it wouldn't be cut off by the frame
-Added borders

Couldn't get very original. The colors on the snow and ice blocks drove me nuts so I took that out and in the process, bumped up some of the highlights and brightened the snow in front. Slight saturation and contrast adjustment to get some detail out of the wooden... urn(?). A bit of glowiness to a newly flattened image with a copied overlay layer set at 35% opacity and a Gaussian Blur.

Thanks Teewinot. I was originally going for the antique canvas painting look.. so..
I desaturated the image
Changed Hue/Saturation to get the desired antique colors
Added some texturizer-> Canvas
Then it struck me that paintings are put on a wall, so why not find a good room for it.. while searching came across this room pic.. cropped it to bring more focus on the painting that was already there and resize & pasted my image on the painting. Resized a little smaller than the actual painting to give some shadow effect..
Then I adjusted the curves to match the colors or the room and painting.

Here is my version, although it does not come anywhere near the ones posted already! Holy cow!
I made a curves adjustment
I applied a watercolor action
I then made a rectangular selection around the edge, inverted the selection, and feathered about 50.
I pulled up curves and raised the left most pull to the top to increase the white around the border and added a gausian blur around the same border for a "dreamy" look.
