This was taken with a 28-105 lens zoomed out to 105. I know she hates having her picture taken so while we were at the zoo I waited for her to get distracted and had my camera pre-zoomed on her head when she looked away and set it to aperture priority with the lens wide open and multiple shot mode.

The whole time I had to keep talking to her to keep her from getting suspicious then i made some stupid joke and waited for her to look over. As soon as her head turned i started shooting and got like 5 shots, this was the best one.

She told me she would kill me, but then relented when I showed her the shot.

it's a very nice shot, love the color version to, very natural.. of course as I'm looking at it, I'm wondering if you felt to play and bring the color back in just her eyes... maybe her lips to, but definately her eyes.. just my curiousities taking over again.. :D

Hrm might give it a shot to put the color back in the eyes and lips, I'll play with it and post something later.

Added color to the eyes but the lips made her look like a clown, so I stuck with just the eyes.

ooh, I like it.. and with the brown eyes it's rather subtle but just draws one in even more.. nicely done!

Hi,
Wow...very nice!
Also, very good skill to develop...talking to people so they are comfortable before and during the shoot.

I just love the picture and the color added to the eyes was a nice suggestion.

Nice shot and better setup. Well done. I like the B&W. having the eyes with the color kinda ruins it for me. It kinda softens her up and for some reason the B&W shows her expression better. She's tough but warm even vurnable at the same time. The color eyes ruin that for me (but hey that's just me).

How did you put the color back in her eyes?????

I have PS CS 8, and I've done it before, but I know there has to be an easier way.

That is a nice shot, by the way.

Rivetgeek,
You said that the lips made her look like a clown. Did you try playing with the opacity or fill of the layer? I think it really would add balance to have a little subtle color in the bottom of that picture.

I have to say the color back in the eyes looks awesome.

great shot, but I prefer the full b/w version.

And I love the story! Every photo has a story, and hearing the stories is part of what I love about photography.
