memory stick issues

Hey! ANOTHER newbie here (and new to digi-cameras as well).........I recently bought a Sony DSC-W90 and, so far I'm happy with it......EXCEPT, for some reason, I can't install a Memory "stick" for some additional memory. There appears to be something stuck in the memory receptacle, preventing insertion of the "stick". Has anyone else run into this scenario??......Okay, I confess that I purchased the item via E-bay, and I'm having trouble finding the invoice (in order to have it serviced under warranty). I'm tempted to try and dissassemble it myself so that I'll still have it for the holidays (yah, I know it would void my warranty).......ANY suggestions??

My first thought is are you using a memory stick duo/pro duo, and not just a normal memory stick?

your camera takes a memory stick...not the memory stick Duo. If you are in fact trying to use a memory stick Duo you will need a duo adapter which should be pretty cheap at a best buy or circuit sity type of store.
Click the first link and save PDF for the manual to the camera...its a google search for PDF manual. I always download them for my electronics so I don't have to keep the manuals and then just create a manuals file.

Err, Sony's site (http://b2b.sony.com/Solutions/product/DSC-W90) says it's duo. Manual or site... One of them is obviously wrong. Question is which one? ...

mac1amps, could you possibly give us a detailed description of what's blocking your stick from being inserted? Is the slot to short, or is there a physical defect of some sort in the plastic or something else?

I've definately verified that it's the right "model" stick, it's a Pro Duo stick, which is supposed to be compatible with a DSC W-90 (I DO know how to read a manuel.......honest). It's really hard to see down that tiny slot, but it APPEARS as though an undersize (incorrect) memory device is stuck about half way down the receptacle. Or maybe it's a portion of a memory device (I've never seen any memory devices of this type that are quite THAT small).

okay well sorry cant help then....I googles DSC-w90 manual they PDSF came up and on page four of the manual it says memory stick or duo if you use an adapter....
I dont have that camera so was just trying to get you in the right direction....didnt know you got the manual and everything you said it was from ebay.....and you couldnt find the invoice so one could assume manual could be the same place as the invoice...missing

Might be able to work whatever is down in there wit ha piece of folded paper or something similar...I wouldn't use any type of metal wire or paperclip just so you dont damage any contacts.
