I found this little fella just sitting in the middle of the sand, while I was on my early morning run. So I ran home to retrieve the trusty photo taker, wanting to get a couple of pics, as I don't come across stranded birds very often.
He must have become seperated & lost from the rest of the flock.
I use an Olympus c770, FL 38mm - F/3.2 - Exp 1/400 sec - ISO 100. natural lighting, I just hoped for the best, & think it turned out OK.

Gayle,

So much right about it, especially the tonal range of those feathers. When you can count the grains of sand . . . Great shot. Running brings all kinds of benefits!

I like the textures...the sand on the beak...and DOF makes the bird stand out.

I like this picture even though I don't like birds! I love the grains of sand on his beak.

This marks you out as a real 'tog!

Anyone else, seeing someone in distress would go forward to help. We 'togs go back and find our camera. Sad but true.

Great shot, lovely detail.
