I'm curious what software people use to manage their digital photos on their PC. I have a cannon powershot S2 and for a long time was just using the software that came with the camera. But I've found that it's pretty slow when trying to navigate through hundereds of photos. At the suggestion of a friend I started using Google's free photo software, Picasa. And frankly I love it. It's simple, fast, no frills, and when it comes to just browse through your photo gallery it's great.
It does some basic editing (very basic) and certianly won't replace photoshop or other high end tools for editing, but it does a great job with for browsing. It also has a Web Albums feature that is pretty cool tool.
Here is my public gallery as an example:

What do other's use?

I use Canon's Zoom browser to be fast to search through images. I am guessing you have that, but if yours is slow maybe you need to update it. Upgrades are available here for all you Canon Software:

But I am also a photoshop nerd (I have been using it since Version 3.0) and nothing can come close it.
Also for RAW processing I use Canon's DPP, and Raw Shooter Essentials, Adobes Lightbox Beta (Which at first I didn't like but now I am starting to come around).

On my PC, I use Picasa as well. I quite like the way that it organises things, and it seems quite quick and easy to use for minor tasks. It's actually quite a powerful piece of software in some ways, especially for something that's free! :)

I am currently using a beta of Adobe's lightroom. I love the way it allows batch processing, organization, minor adjustments and editing, and I especially like that it will export a copy to Photoshop for the major stuff without touching the original image. I am curious as to what they are going to charge for it once it goes live.

The changes in Lightroom are still ongoing. As long as Adobe gets useable input from the pros on items needed concerning workflow ideas, Lightroom will be a Beta program. Example LR beta 3 ends Janruary 31, 2007 and beta 4.1 will probably end February 28, 2007. There is always the chance that LR betas will continue after February. Adobe says that it will be beta until the users say that it is right.
Being a Mac program orginally, the full Mac version will final first with Windows version soon after.
It's hard to say what changes will be made for the final version.

When you say PC, do you mean a Windows machine?
The old computer terms have been changing... :P
I have been a fan of ACDSee for many years.
It's only getting better

I love that I can view raw files as well.
I'm also looking for a program to sort my images after two years of having a digital camera I find it vary difficult to arrange photos in folders... I have picasa but I never tried using it to organize the photos. I'm looking for something that I can tag the photos and create albums.

Picasa has limited tagging but very flexible folders. Images can be placed in more than one folder at a time, which might be just as useful as tagging. But I would imagine that the drag-drop interface for doing so would be cumbersome with large volumes of photos to categorize. Anyone got a better idea?

Do you have any idea as to the cost of the final version of Lightroom? I've been using the beta version and really like it. I'm torn between upgrading to Photoshop CS2 or buying the full version of Lightroom.
