On a whim i was mucking around with the macro functions on my little baby (fujifilm s7000). I was trying to catch some drops or stream of water. And on a whim i just tried angling my camera. And i found result and improvment of the photo was staggering. Just by tipping the camera a few degree's it made world of diference to an otherwise boring photo. But i notice people rarely seem to do it these days. What is your opinion on camera angling, do u use it alot, and if so when do you use it?
This is the straight on photo:

This is the angled one:

I saw this photo in the water assignment thread, and thought it was really neat. If the first one was there i doubt i would of put any thought into it. I find my self only changing the angle on rare occasions. i probably should do it more often.

Here is the blog af a portrait (family) photographer who uses angle regularly in her shots. I love her style.
Tara Whitney (http://tarawhitney.typepad.com/)
It immediately makes the image more abstract but, especially for a macro shot like this, it works very well. I think the angled version is great and much stronger than the vertical one.
It can also work on other subjects - for example, sometimes an angled shot works better than a level horizon when you are trying to imply action and energy.

sugar_fixed,
Shoot and show, shoot and show. Read how others got started. Train your eye. Learn the process. Sharpen your skills. Make the camera your third eye. Then shoot and show some more. Good luck to you.

I camera-angle all the time. Even before, when I took my shots with a plain simple digicam.
It's really an easy way to create dynamic pictures (even if you don't have the big bucks camera) and it gives you a different perspective on things. I also sometimes use it as a trick when my viewframe isn't big enough to capture anything. You can fit more into your picture, and it looks dynamic. if you do it right, nobody notices you're cheating. ;-)
