I just got a D80 as my D40 was getting lonely and needed a big brother. Is it my imagination or does the D80 have more shutter lag and create more camera shake when you press the shutter button?

I had option #31 one which is the 4/10th seconds delay. I turned that off and will have to see if I have better luck. I think part of it is also that 10mp is much more sensitive to shake than 6mp on the D40.

Or is there something else that is causing my problem???

My D200 has some of the same internals and I don't notice anything like that, nor with the D50. Maybe it's defective? I'd try taking it in.

Don't think there is anything wrong as it is the same as the one I tried in a store, and I have read about a lag on two other forums.

Is it the autofocus? If you have the AF-C mode set to focus priority (not sure if that's even an option on the D80) then that could cause lag.

I've never ever had any issues with shutter lag. Under unsatisfactory light conditions a couple of my lens might search a little, but never had an issue with my D80.
