Hey all,

Just found this on Flickr the other day, and was wondering if anyone here knew how to create the effect.

It's called the "tilt-shift" effect, and essentially makes things look like miniature scale - very kewl -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/tiltshift

Thanks,

M

This is a start if you use Photoshop CS2

i use a similar technique even when i want to add an "open diaphram" when i'm shooting with my cheap olympus c-310, because can't control anything of the exposition.

i freeze the subject and then blur gently and gradually in the direction that i want.

good example here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mox601/292626071/) and
here (need to be more accurate in masking the edges) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mox601/281428780/)

This is actually a really cool effect that I've never seen before. Hmm, I may have to try this out on some photos. Thanks for asking and thanks for the helpful answers!

I don't use pcs2 but do you think the concepts would translate to GIMP?

It looks like something to try for a neat project.

There is a "sort of" way to do it in gimp. Gimp doesn't have the "lens blur" effect, so it's not quite the same, but appears to come out pretty close.

There are also some other blur plugins for the gimp which bring it closer yet.

enjoy.

I have found this site on DIGG.

http://forums.livingwithstyle.com/showthread.php?t=342065

It shows the same information more or less, but I just wanted people to be able to multiple examples.
