Where was it taken? Indian Creek Golf Course, in Hood River, Oregon, at sunset

What settings did you use? Setting- Manual
-17mm
-1/512s
-f/11.3
-ISO 320 (lowest this camera goes)

What gear (camera, lens etc) did you use?
-FujiFilm S1 Pro
-Sigma EX 17-35mm Aspherical w/UV filter

Why did you compose the shot as you did? I really liked the juxtaposition of the sunset to it's reflection on the wet pavement, with the building acting as a seperation. I took a lot of differently angled photos of this, and then cropped the most promising one to create the final product.

What post production work have you done on the shot (if any)? Levels adjustment in PS CS2.

What were you hoping to achieve with the shot? A pwetty picter? What else? ;)

What did you do well? I think that I got the tones and natural gradiation to work very well in creating the 'rolling' color effect here.

How could you have improved it? Not blown out the clouds with the sun behind them.

That would be a great shot set up for some subtle HDR work. If you had a version exposed for the sky and another to bring out a bit more detail on the front of the cabin, you could blend them together to get something more akin to what the natural eye sees looking at a beautiful scene like this (I love the way you have framed it, by the way).

here is another tip..

maybe if you had a Graduated Neutral density filter.. it would of helped with the overexposed sky... and then you may of been able to expose the land/bottom half of the image better as i find it a tad dark.. but do love the over all feel well done :)

I guess I'm alone here, but the sky doesn't bother me. It seems to balance the foreground. I like the mellow colors.

Saralonde - The more I look at it, the more symmetry I see in it...

Well mate i wanna agree with saralonde, but even more then that. I love the over-exposed sky. It is an attention grabber. It screams "look at me". It was the first part about the photo that caught my eye. So mate, i love the photo actually.... but i must ask, seeing im from australia i dont really understand, do they play golf while there is snow on the course?

I love this picture and the way you framed it. Even the overexposed sky is wonderful. I used to live in Indiana before I moved to Texas and this picture makes me miss the snow.

Great Job! I like the amount of contrast between all of the darks and lights!
