I have an old Nikon SB-28 speedlight that I never did learn how to use with my film cameras. Anyone know of websites with very basic off-camera flash tutorials? I like strobist.com, but confess that much of it is over my head. Thanks in advance!

Lisa are you now using it on a digital camera?
If so you will probably better to just start trying things out.
I had a quick look at your flash online.
TTL mode (if your camera supports it) is the best way to start - this mode is basically AUTO for your flash. It reads the light "Through The Lens" and configures appropriately.
Personally I shoot all flash work fully manual. That's mainly due to the lack of support that my old Fuji S1 Pro gave me and I had to learn the hard way.

I don't think the SB-28 syncs with my D70, so I'm interested in learning how to use it off-camera, manually. (I tried to trade the SB-28 in when I bought the DSLR, but they were only going to give me like 20 bucks for it. I figured I might as well keep it and maybe - finally - learn how to do flash photography.)
