Teach someone else in your family to feel comfortable using your camera, after several family functions and taking lots of photos i realized after that i manage to get at least one pic of everyone, the only person missing from this great collection of grandparents, parents and children was ME! :( My daughter (13) is going to learn how to use a Nikon D70 like it or not :D

Great suggestion, Hoge. In my immediate family, that seems to be the case. I've bought my wife a camera and tried to get her to use it, but she doesn't seem interested. Subsequently, our vacation shots don't have much of me in them.
In my extended family, it's a different story. I have four sisters and two brothers. Several of my siblings have been doing photography for much, much longer than I have. A couple of them have even done it professionally for ad agencies for awhile.

This reminds me of something I wish ALL cameras came with. A "LOCK" button where it locks all the buttons except for the shutter button.
It's almost guaranteed that when you let someone use your camera, their fingers will change some kind of setting by accidentally pressing a button.
We had a large family gathering where we happened to get a bunch of family members (over 50 members) together to pose in front of Old Faithful at Yellowstone. This lady (stranger) offered to take the picture so I gave her the camera to use. Somehow, she pressed a button and put the camera in to video mode. So she took one picture (which started recording the video) then I told her to take another one just in case (which stopped the video). Then the group broke up and went their separate ways.
I went to review the pictures and saw that I got a video instead. Too late to gather everyone around again.
That's why I wish cameras have a "LOCK" feature where only the shutter button works.

well, there's always the handy tripod and remote-controlled shutter that you can fall back on.:D
