Since you are not just interested in Nikon cameras, I have moved your question up a level. It would probably help if you could tell us something about how much experience you have with photography (expecially recent experiences with other cameras and what you loved or hated) and what you want to do with the camera.

Also, what is your budget?

Thanks.
I am basically a newbie to photography and will be learning with the new camera. So I want a basic model with atleast 10X optical lens focus and that would fit well in pocket. Any suggestions?

I have the Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1 and while it takes beautiful pictures, seems to have fast focus and a great zoom, it doesn't have a view finder. I would rather use a view finder especially on very sunny days plus I have to wear glasses to see up close and can't always see the LCD screen. It does have a nice big LCD screen though. If the lack of view finder doesn't bother you I would say this is a great little camera. It's small and it travels well.
I can't speak for the other cameras you are interested in.

What are the important points that needs to be considered? Also the budget is not a constraint for me as all these 3 lies in almost the same price range.

I haven't used any of these cameras personally which makes it hard for me to recommend one. However, here is a site (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=nikon_cps10%2Ckodak_z612%2Cpanasonic_dmctz 1&show=all) that will let you compare them side by side. They also give in-depth reviews for 2 of them and a sample shots gallery. Maybe this will help.

I'd add the Canon IS S3 or S5 to your list if I were you. They both have a 12X optical zoom, plus I think a 4X digital zoom...which I left turned off.

I had the older version IS S2, and it was a great camera.
