This is the lens for one of those big blinking-arrow road signs. The sign was rotting behind the power transformer shack for an airfield light tower. I tried getting a few shots of the whole sign, and they just weren't interesting. When I looked up close, I noticed that the insides of each lens barrel looked pretty neat.
The problem was that I couldn't get close enough to the sign to easily take a shot. I could stick my camera lens into the hole, but I couldn't look through the viewfinder except from two feet back.
Essentially, I took the shot blind, relying on my camera to 'beep' when it focused.
It came out nice, but the lens plastic was this ugly yellow color. A little grayscale fixed that up nice.
