Scratch Removing

This was a photo a kid in my summer photo class brought in. He had scanned an old film picture which was covered in scratches. I decided to restore it.

I really appreciate the work that you put into that photo... It must have taken some time. Do you have any tips on the process itself?

You have done a really good job on that. I would probably have been tempted to follow up with a little tweaking of the colour curves - it has quite a pronounced magenta cast at the moment and I'd probably want to tame that just a little. However, it would take some experimentation to see just what was possible.

I used Photoshop CS2 which most photoshop versions will work, I used a lot of the clone stamp tool and the healing brush for the scratches which involved a lot of patience and zooming in close.

Good work, the only way to learn more is by experimenting using the different tools in th CS2. Very good restoration.

What I really like is that there is no observable difference between the two save for the lack of scratches. I too might have been tempted to play with the colors but in a way, preserving the original exactly is nice too. Good work on this.
