Cannon (http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=CNDRXTI1855B) vs Pentax (http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=PKK110D1855)
This is going to be a hard choice. I love the XTi's look and the fact that it is 10 mp. I don't like the fact that it is $750. It also needs cf cards which I don't have. Also doesn't have a mass storage mode to download the pictures from the camera. It has some other mode that is 4x slower than mass storage. You have to use cannon software to slowly download the images if you use any type of RAW format. Also the continuous capture mode is weird. it will catch 31 pictures into the buffer. Then instead of capturing a new image every time there is room in the buffer, it will clear the buffer then randomly start taking a random number of shots. Read about this HERE (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos400d/page12.asp).
The pentax is definitely a cheaper camera by far (more money to spend on glass). It uses SD cards which I have. I also like that the lens mount hasn't changed so I can mount any pentax lens. I don't like that it is only 6 mp. Also I like the menu interface on the cannon better (lcd and stuff in viewfinder).
Here is my predicament. I want to buy a high quality camera that I will keep for a long time, but I don't necessarily want to spend a lot of money on one. What do you guys suggest I do?
