hi there.

hope someone can point me in the right direction...

my hp r707 point and shoot has recently started going weird. photos have lines going across them and are far too dark and are sometimes discoloured (see pics below). the lcd viewfinder itself is fine and video records and plays back as it should. it's only stills that are affected.

is it the ccd that's going/gone? any other ideas? worth trying to get fixed? (camera isn't under warranty any more).

any input appreciated...

No suggestions Im afraid other than a new camera ! :) But thats a really cool effect on the building ! :)

Have you got any options on the size and quality of the pictures? I suspect there is something "bad" wrong inside the camera but changing those settings (or looking in the manual for a "factory reset" command) might be an easy thing to try first.

thanks for the replies. i have tried different resolutions and have also done a hard reset but no luck. and yes some of the effects look pretty cool but i'd rather a working camera :D

my old brick started doing that - but it was time for an upgrade anyway - I like the effects it gives though so I've kept it!

Hey, this would be the perfect camera to start doing those "tossing" pictures with. Where you toss the camera in the air when taking a picture.

Ya know that building shot? I'd go up on top of said building and throw the camera off...LOL, but that's just me....you may find another use for it, ie...bookend, paper weight, weapon (throw firmly aiming for head of intruder). It does give a new meaning to the title "Photosmart."

The constructive answers are already listed above. Your camera is a goner. There's no trick to fix this, and being that these cameras are not user-serviceable, the camera either works or it's broke--and yours is broke. Time for an upgrade. :(
