I got a 35-105mm Nikkor 1:3.5-4.5 several weeks before Christmas but my husband doesn't know much about cameras so I think eventually I'm going to sell it and get the 105 vr macro.
I also got a manfrotto tripod, memory card reader, digital photography book, and 200GB external hard drive. My husband tried to get me another memory card but he got the wrong kind, its so cute how he always gets the wrong stuff. I feel bad for him because he really tries and then I have to break the news to him. :)

I had asked for the Nikkor 85mm f/1.8, but got a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8. I'll take it!
Now I just have to practice so I can get some of the great shots we see on here!

Only photo related item I got was Lighting for Nude Photography (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9782880465711&itm=1). It's a beautiful book with some striking images and the techniques discussed serve other types of photography quite well.
Everything else was cookbooks I've been wanting.

I got the Lensbaby 2.0 with macro kit. I'm not that big of a fan. I'm trying to think of other things that would cost about $185 that I could get in place of this. Suggestions (new or used) would be welcomed.
I currently have the Canon 28-200 USM lens and the Canon 50mm f/1.8 for my 10D.

I got the book "photoshop for dummies". I've tinkered with PS for over a year now... I figure it's about time I learn why things work the way they do!

- I just got that book too (Understanding exposure). Terrific book! But not TWO copies of it. (/snicker...)
----
Santa left me The Photoshop CS2 Speed Clinic. I just paid off my "debt" for photoshop, and wanted to be able to use it more efficiently. Santa also left me some cash to put toward my camera.

Me - "Santa brought be a new tripod for Christmas!"
My nephew - "Cool! How many gigs does it hold? Does it play video?"
Me - "sigh"
In addition to the tripod (that's TRipod, for my nephew's sake), I got a Canon i9900 photo printer with lots of paper. My birthday was two weeks before Christmas, and I got a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens.

I didn't get much for xmas, mostly because my whole family's taking a trip to Norway next month. :)
we will be buying ourselves some photo gear for the trip, though. A gorillapod, a 50mm lens, an extra battery, some more memory cards, and a card reader (I've been using the USB cable)
My mom trying to be nice got me a gorillapod. She doesn't realize that my camera weighs way more then it could support. That and I already have the SLR Zoom version. However she did get me sensor swabs! The right size too!
Also got a blower, microfiber cloth, lenspen (Which I think is great!) and a digital picture frame which is neat.

I guess that lends itself to a new assignment, "cooking in the nude."

My husband got me "Understanding Exposure" and "The Digital Photography Book" by Steve Kelby.
He got the Fuji FinePix F30. He wanted a "true" P&S (he hates my Canon S2 IS). Yes, technically it is his gift, but I've enjoyed playing around with it. I've also enjoy taking pictures with him.

Can I suggest a gary fong lightsphere? I got one last year and the lightsphere makes it easy for you to use the flash with little or no knowledge of how to use it.

I got a Nikon SB-800 speedlight....that I am really not sure how to use yet.
I also got a Nikon Coolpix P1...I wanted a point & shoot so I could take random pics of friends without wagging around my bag. Wasn't sure I had been good enough to get it, but Santa surprised me!!
