Those of us that know the joy of parenting know that there is little better subject to take photos of. I thought that there should be a topic dedicated to this most precious of topics.

Mine are getting older, and not always as willing to get in front of the camera anymore. But, here's one from this year at a local park.

I live very close to my two granddaughters, so see them often. They are now at the age that they love to pose for me.

Please Vicki, post a shot of your granddaughters. This is my granddaughter. She used to love to pose for me. I'd pull out my camera and she'd instantly stop and smile (and she's only 1). Then she found out there are buttons to push on the back of the camera. There is nothing she likes more than pushing buttons to see what they do. Now I have to catch her unaware. Here's she is just before her recent first haircut:

Saralonde: That has to be one of the most precious shots I've ever seen! It just really makes me just want to pick her up & say, "Don't worry sweety, everything will be okay". And this is coming from a rough & tough kinda guy. Okay, maybe I DO have a soft spot in me.
Thanks for sharing!

to upload an image on here you need to have it hosted somewhere like http://flickr.com or http://photobucket.com/
then you need to insert the image into your post via the insert button which is represented as the little image of the mountain at the top of every message input i hope this helps... if not let me know

Hello,
I would like to share a picture to which I applied one of the first things I read about here. I made a copy of the picture and then applied a gaussian blur to the top layer, changed the blend mode to screen and then lowered the opacity a bit.
I really like how it turned out.

hello.. i hope it is ok for a noobie to join in here but this is the ONE topic i can talk about at the moment... i have tons of shots of my kids (being a scrapbooker kind of means that they cant sneeze without me recording the event :D )... these shots probably wont blow your pro minds away, but i was very proud of them.. the first 2 (of the boys) were shot with my trusty little kodak 6490 and the one of my dd was shot with my new baby (i only had him since yesterday) a fuji s6500fd....

Picxie: Allow me to be the first to welcome you to DPS. Your more than welcome to add pictures to any & all threads. The more, the merrier, I say. You got some good looking kids there. The first shot is excellent, I really like it. The 2nd & 3rd look a little blurry. Keep practicing with the new camera & don't be afraid to put a picture in the Critique thread. People here are really gentle & friendly when it comes to critiquing. It will help you to improve on one of your passions.
P.S. Watch out for a character named Jiminyclickit. He's old & ornery

Here are pictures of my two sons. I quite new in photography - so I am trying out different techniques. On the first picture I tried to use flash in bright sun-shine to illuminate my 4 month old son while the oldest was running in the background.

My sister will kill me for putting up the last one, but it shows my nephew as himself, not 'fake' if you know what i mean.
I love taking pics of my niece, simply because she is so innocent and it really shows in the photo's and they capture her personality.

Yes, it's true. They are in good company though -- lots of gorgeous children on this thread.

I have a third, now 10, but all my recent photos of him are stored on another hard drive. I'll put him up too (if for no other reason, then to ensure that if he ever stumbles on this forum he won't feel slighted).

Michelle,
I am trying to tell myself that you are wowed by my skills as a photographer, but deep down I suspect that you are commenting on the fact that my son got so many of his mother's good genes.
EL
LOL. Well, partly I'm jealous. My husband has red hair and we have 4 blondes and 2 brunettes. But you did a great job of capturing the results of those good genes. ;)

Many of us got here because of an interest in shooting better photos of our kids, and I know that's what keeps me coming back.

Such gorgeous children! I was inspired into digital photography by my son, who is now two. We keep a daily photoblog of him (http://picturebook.chattablogs.com), but here are three of my recent faves:
http://picturebook.chattablogs.com/archives/images/2007_07_26.jpg
http://picturebook.chattablogs.com/archives/images/2007_08_04.jpg
http://picturebook.chattablogs.com/archives/images/2007_08_03.jpg
I did use photoshop on them. The first two was mainly to crop and the last one was for color emphasis.

Melfunktion: Just 1 suggestion. Buy Sophie another slipper! Poor Girl!!:D Just kidding. You look like you're off to pretty good start there. I like how you didn't center the first shot. The second shot should have been centered a little better. The third one has a nice cropping to it, well done. Welcome to DPS. :)

Haha yeah the 2nd would have definately looked better centered. As for the shoes ! well being already Miss Independant at almost 2yrs old.. she decided that one shoe was too dirty so took it off... then i cleaned it an offered to put it back on.. "NO"... offered to take the other off "NO",.. so she wore one shoe all day.
