I've got my camera set for matrix metering. When I bring up the file info on any of my pics it says the metering mode is pattern.
Both PS CS2 file info, and file properties in Windows XP say the same.
Whats up with this? There is no pattern mode setting on the camera.

Old post, but I am bored and answer it anyway. Pattern is matrix mode. Same same.

The thread is even older now, and I had been wondering about that as well, thanks for the clarification...

while we're on it, i'd suggest anyone with a D80 to learn about spot metering, it's a great way to do it, especially when shooting in "uneven" scenarios

Indeed, I was looking for spot metering when I was looking for a camera, even my Olympus point'n'shoot has it. I didn't burn many highlights after I learned how to use it.

WoW....this is really bringing one back from the dead. A year old thread!
I've actually been using spot metering in most of my shots for some time now.
