I'm trying to figure out how to use my camera and after reading the manual and searching the internet, I still don't get it.

I have Panasonic Lumix FZ7 and it has a shutter speed up to 1/2000 however I can't get it take a picture at 1/500 let alone 1/2000. The screen just goes black and the shutter speed turns red. The manual says its because my EV isn't right, but when I adjust that it does the same thing, so I don't get it.

I've also discovered that the shutter speed interworks with the EV and Aperture, but I haven't got exactly how they work figured out.

I'd like to know how to do this so I can get some sharp shots of water splashing and whatnot.

Let me know if you can help, thanks.

Chad
